the joy of love | day 23

Day 23: Facebook favorite.

Hmmmm….it’s hard to choose a favorite from my totally random mixed up photos on FB! But a fun challenge today.

I chose one of the photos from my surprise 40th birthday party.

Well, it was supposed to be a surprise, but anyone who knows ANYTHING about me knows that I love a good secret to uncover. Dave and I had a good game going of “Does he know that I know that he knows I know” for a few weeks. He worked so hard to make this celebration happen – such a sweet thing to do for me. xoxoxox

What is so touching to me about this photo is the overwhelming feeling of humbleness and thankfulness for all of the truly wonderful, smart, funny, kind, caring (list can go on forever) people in my life – past and present, who truly care about me. To see friends from when I was 10 years old was AMAZING!! To see my family from all over the country here, in Rochester, for ME! (sniff, sniff)

All of my these people represent different segments of the timeline of my life. And it’s so important to have people from my ENTIRE life – people who remember me “when”, people who were there with me “when”, people who are there with me “now”. Friends and family who know about Cadott, where we grew up. Who know about U of MN. Who know about the early days at IBM and playing volleyball. Who know about my time working in the nonprofit world. Who know me now, as a mother to THREE, with a home to renovate and a desire to learn and share through my photography.

WOW.WOW.WOW. I will always be grateful and strive to keep connections in my life going. After all – I have a horrible memory – I need these people to help preserve the story that is my life.
